When history and personal survival intersect

In 200 YEARS TOGETHER, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wrote:

Before the camps [i.e gulags], I regarded the existence of Nationality as something that shouldn't be noticed–nationality did not really exist, only humanity.

But in the camps, one learns: if you belong to a successful nation you are protected and you survive. If you are part of universal humanity, too bad for you.

Guess who Russians lived together with for 200 years?

When a tree ripens with the same fruit in every soil, its species is known.

Once Trump dies, there will be nothing holding the USA together. Then universal humanity will discover that the universe is a cold, dead vacuum.
